Jodie Comers Boyfriend James Burke: What to Know about the Killing Eve Stars Partner

Jodie Comer's boyfriend, James Burke, has been criticized for his alleged political beliefs, which have clouded their new relationship. Learn more about the British actress's new boyfriend and his interests.

Award-winning actress Jodie Comer hit the headlines for secretly dating an American athlete, James Burke, in the summer of 2020. Fans of the "Killing Eve" actress, however, raised their eyebrows when they learned that the guy she was seeing was allegedly a Republican.

Upset, Comer's admirers started criticizing her and even threatened to discontinue supporting her career. Despite the controversy, Comer, who has been quiet throughout the ordeal, believes that dating the athlete merely fell into place. Who really is Comer's mystery man?

WHO IS JAMES BURKE?

Burke is a former lacrosse player who played between 2013 and 2016. On March 31, 1994, he was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, to his parents, Jim and Chris Burke. Burke has two more siblings, Brenda and Brady.

Burke graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree where he majored in Communication Arts and Sciences. After graduating from college, he moved right into seeking a career as a professional athlete.

According to the Daily Mail in December 2020, although seeking a career in athletics, Burke currently works in the tech industry. The news publication said that most of his personal life was hidden from the public eye.

However, his whole identity has been disclosed since meeting Comer. Burke allegedly met the actress when the latter was filming the movie "Free Guy," featuring Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi, in Boston.

Burke and Comer's rumored romance sparked public speculation. It is unclear if the "Help" actress and the former lacrosse athlete's meeting was directly linked to the shooting of the film or not.

HOW DID JODIE COMER AND JAMES BURKE MEET?

Although they met in Boston, no information was publicly disclosed concerning Comer and Burke's meeting. The rumors persist, as a fan discovered photos of Comer and Burke together on social media before they were removed.

While the photographs were eventually removed from the internet, multiple news sites had already identified Burke as Comer's mystery man. The rumored pair were spotted together in public at the time, but they had not stated whether or not they were dating.

Comer said that she took a social media break after becoming consumed with uncovering negative comments left by netizens about her. Burke, on the other hand, deleted his Instagram account immediately after the romance speculations surfaced.

Comer took their rumored romance to the next level after being photographed together in public several times. She allegedly brought Burke to her hometown of Liverpool so he could meet her parents.

In a previous interview with the Sunday Times, Comer expressed her joy at having just discovered love. She also spoke about how her current relationship differed from her past relationships.

Having clearly moved on from her former relationships, Comer said she does not want to say anything negative about the men she dated in the past and has since focused her energy on her new beau. She added:

"This relationship feels very different. This feels like nothing else. When you actually feel it, you're like, 'Ahhh, so this is what it feels like!'"

Comer has never been reluctant to flaunt her man, but their relationship was tested when the pandemic hit the world. They spent most of their time apart due to lockdown. Burke was in the United States, while Comer was in London.

She previously shared how she and Burke maintained their "new normal" relationship throughout the pandemic in a magazine interview. Long-distance relationships, according to Comer, need effort and constant communication over the internet. In their case, she shared they had "a million of Facetimes."

JODIE COMER DEFENDS HER BOYFRIEND ON TWITTER

The "Thirteen" actress's love life continues to get better, but so do the individuals who opposed her relationship. People criticized Comer and even declared she was "canceled" on Twitter after learning that her boyfriend was a Republican.

Comer said that ever since she began dating Burke, everything in her life has already started to fall into place for the better.

Opinionated fans remarked that Comer's support for the Black Lives Matter movement, LGBT rights, and her bisexual character Villanelle in the thriller "Killing Eve" series contradicted the Republican ideals.

Many internet users continue to hurl insults at Burke, Comer, and their families. Comer first kept mum and opted not to engage in netizen debates for the sake of her health.

However, when people started questioning Burke's political leanings, the persistent criticism that netizens leveled at him looked to spiral out of control. Comers rushed to Burke's defense.

She also said in an interview with a magazine that she wouldn't respond to claims that Burke supports Trump. Comer said she couldn't believe that she and her family had been dragged into this absurd predicament.

Addressing the issue, the TV actress explained that the critics' claims that her boyfriend was a Republican were "false information" and that she knew the truth. She was upset that people would trust false tweets.

Comer said that since she began dating Burke, everything in her life has already started to fall into place for the better. She doesn't seem to have any negative opinions about her boyfriend.

Simply put, the two-time BAFTA awardee has a great deal of love for her handsome boyfriend. She places high importance on their relationship and is willing to sacrifice everything to safeguard it.
